Congratulations!!

There are 3 milestones happening today and on the weekend I wish I could be home for. First it is the 100 Anniversary of the Wheeler Farm and my Aunt and Uncle Wheeler’s 40th Wedding Anniversary party this weekend. Congratulations to my Aunt and Uncle!
And today is my nieces graduation from Grade 1!!! I am so proud of her and miss her very much!

Have a Great weekend!

A Nice Surprise

Yesterday I went for a walk after I saw Dawn and Scott off at the train station. I was walking through old town and there was a crowd of people on the street that I walk up to get home. So as I turned the corner I saw a large marching band at the top of the street getting ready to play. I found a spot to take a picture thinking this was just a marching band passing through Geneva. It was very cool to hear and see the band march down the old streets of Geneva but after they passed I was surprised to see these children following them wearing hats! Then there were more and more children marching wearing different hats! It was really neat to see and weird at the same time. So I checked out the Geneva news and it was the School festival, so all the children from the schools in Geneva march through Old Town and wear hats or carry Swiss characters to represent their school. Such a cool idea and really amazing to see hundreds of children march through the city!

Bahhhhhhhhh!

We had guests!!

My friend Scott and Dawn are on their honeymoon backpacking around Europe and they stopped in for two days to visit. We did a little exploring yesterday and walked along Lake Geneva and then to the United Nations. Here are a few pictures from that day.

Yogurt

This is Chocolate Yogurt and it is not good!

Music Festival

This weekend was the Geneva Music Festival so we kicked off the weekend with an Italian dinner with Jades co-worker Laurence and his girlfriend Mariah at Chez Marino. There were main spots around the city that had large stages but if you wonder around you can find performances everywhere. It was a great weekend of Metal, Opera, Rock and Word music. The videos have sound so turn it up!

Sorry I forgot that you can't turn the videos

Euro Cup

We took a break from the Music Festival to watch the Holland vs Russia game at the Fan Zone.

Enjoy Kevin!

A huge TV

Jade and I went for a walk last night and we heard some music down the hill from the apartment so we checked it out. It turned out to be a field with a huge TV and people watching the Germany vs Portugal soccer game! There are events on in the city if you know where to look. This weekend is the Geneva Music Festival so I will have some great pics! Have a great weekend!

Mall

Yesterday we had a meeting with our VISA/Work permit guy and his office is located next to a “mall”. Jade and I went for a look and I found it interesting that instead of escalators with steps they have escalator ramps. This makes the upper floor easily accessible for everyone!

yogurt

There are tones of different types of yogurt here. Today I tried rhubarb yogurt and it was surprisingly good! Switzerland is a yogurt adventure!

I must go get ready we are attending an Apero for Jades co-worker tonight. This is a party that you host after you have been at the company for one year.

Groceries

I went to Migros for some groceries this afternoon so I thought I would share a few pictures. I usually go get groceries twice a day, once in the morning to get a baggett and cheese for Jades lunch and then later other groceries.
Each produce that does not come in a bag or package has a number listed above it
You then place the produce on the scale and press the number that is listed for that item. This produces a tag for the checkout so they do not have to punch in produce or weigh it. The checkout is also lowered so that the clerks sit in chairs.

Yes, that is $11.00 for two small chicken breasts!

The Park

I went for a run around the park behind our apartment that also has an elementary school. I was amazed at how many people were in the park at 2:00.

First night on the Town

Disco Stairs

On Saturday we went out for drinks with Jades good friend Erin from Calgary who works in Geneva at Proctor & Gamble. We went to two pubs, a martini bar and then two discos’ that were very cool. Unfortunately, the discos clubs are squatting and will probably not exist next weekend. We ended our night around 5 am with a Kabob and a steep walk home.

Walk

A few interesting homes on our walk to the store to find a hair dryer. It is very lush with trees but it keeps raining making it too cold for exploring.
