Adventure to Lausanne

We took the train to the City Festival of Lausanne on Saturday. Lausanne looks a lot like Geneva but it was built on the southern slope of the Swiss plateau. It is a very difficult walk from Lake Geneva to their Old Town with a huge difference in elevation. Lausanne is also in the middle of the wine region and was the home of Ingvar Kamprad (IKEA) and Coco Chanel.

We started out with a picnic by Lake Geneva with a nice view of the water and the Alps.

After having some baguette, cheese and wine we walked over to the Olympic museum. Lausanne is the headquarters for the International Olympic Committee. When Kyle S. visits we will go inside the museum.

not bad after a bottle of wine!

The hike up to old town to the festival was long and steep but we made it and it was worth it for the amazing view of the Alps and Lake Geneva.

At the festival we saw a Zurich band called Deep Trip http://www.deeptrip.ch/ here is a sample.

We met up with Jades co-workers that live in Lausanne and had a few drinks.

Unfortunately, we missed our train at 1 am and the next train to Geneva was at 4:30 am so we had a long wait at the train station. The Swiss are a timely people so when the train leaves at 1:08 it leaves right at 1:08. We got home around 6 am and another lesson learned!

We are going to London for the week so I will post pictures later this week.
